College Football Tickets
College football tickets mean everything to me. I have a collection of college football tickets amassed over many years, which I proudly show to friends when they visit my house. When I was a kid and I read that book about the kid who wants to win a golden ticket in a chocolate bar so he can take a tour of the famous chocolate factory in his town, I could relate strongly, with one difference; the golden ticket I craved was a ticket to the local college football stadium. I remember passing the stadium with my mom and dad when we went out shopping; the thing loomed over everything in the area, like a giant mysterious monument to mayhem and combat. On the occasions when big grudge games were fought out, I could hear the roar of the crowd from my backyard, and I dreamed of being given a college football ticket and sitting in the heart of that passionate crowd! Once I reached a certain age, and my older brother and his friends began to attend college games, I knew my chance had come.
My first college football tickets took me into a near-mythic world of hot-dogs, coca-cola and college ball colors. College football tickets were a passport to another realm, where you could root for your local school and truly feel part of a community untouched by sponsorship and millionaire brats who couldn’t behave themselves when not on-field.
